Iranian ‘Yalda’ to go on screen in France

Iranian film ‘Yalda’ is to go on screen at the 15th Panorama of Maghreb and Middle Eastern Cinemas in France.

Iranian film ‘Yalda’ has been selected to go on screen at the 15th edition of the Panorama of Maghreb and Middle Eastern Cinemas in France.

Written and directed by Masoud Bakhshi, ‘Yalda’ tells the story of Maryam Komijani, a young woman who has been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband.

On Yalda Night, an ancient cultural festive marking the longest night of the year, she has been brought to a studio to be forgiven by the victim’s only daughter, Mona Ziya, during a live TV program.

But several incidents during the program and its behind-the-scenes get the two young women into a challenging situation to make a decision.

‘Yalda’ is starring Behnaz Jafari and Faqiheh Soltani.

The Panorama of Maghreb and Middle Eastern Cinemas, held in Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis will allow spectators to discover movies from Iran, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Palestine and Lebanon.

The event includes screenings, meetings with directors and professionals, round tables, concerts and many other festive proposals.

The 15th edition of the event is slated for March 3-21, 2020.
